Old Railways

It's probably just because I'm getting older and sillier - and more and more convinced that the industrialised countries haven't treated their railways as the valuable resource that they are. But whatever the reason, I've recently started to take more of an interest in closed lines.

Following a couple of injuries which grounded both me and my wife for a short time we decided to get our legs functioning again by some reasonably easy walks, and local closed railways offered an opportunity to get in some distance without any rough stuff. That's our story anyway. It also prompted me to dig out some of my old pictures from lines which have subsequently closed. So this page and its links are very much under construction, and they'll grow slowly as I get round to digging out old photos and/or taking new ones.
